Creole and Cajun food are uncommon in Orange County, so it's great that one of the few Creole restaurants here is also a showstopper. Roux Creole Cuisine may not have much competition, but that doesn't stop it from being one of Brode's Best.
Roux somehow manages to feel both quaint and upscale. It's the perfect place for a date in beautiful Laguna Beach.
What to order
As an appetizer, I love the Cast Iron Skillet Spicy Garlic Shrimp (pictured above). That sauce... make sure they don't take the skillet after you finish the shrimp! Perfect for dipping your bread in!
For your main course, you can't go wrong with the Catfish Orleans or the Gumbo. Both very flavorful.
Finally, you absolutely must order the award-winning Buttermilk Pie. I cannot say enough good things about this dessert. If you only get one thing from this restaurant, get the Buttermilk Pie.
